Rules and Eligibility

  • This competition is open to everyone except for employees of the Centre for Quantum Technologies, employees of New Scientist or members of the judging panel, and such persons’ immediate families.

  • By submitting videos the entrant acknowledges that they are the producer and copyright holder of that work.

  • Multiple entries are permitted. All entries must be submitted online via the competition upload page.

  • CQT reserves the right to not post videos that it deems unsuitable. Entrants will be notified but no correspondence will be entered into.

  • CQT reserves the right to edit any written content submitted.

  • Videos should not exceed 3 minutes in length.

  • CQT shall not be responsible for technical errors in telecommunication networks, internet access or otherwise, preventing entry at this website.

  • Submitting your entry constitutes your consent for CQT and its sponsors to use your entry, name and videos for editorial or publicity purposes.

  • Entries must be submitted by the competition closing date of 1 December 2012, 23:59 UTC/GMT.

  • The winners will be chosen by a judging panel. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • The winning entry will be announced in January 2013.

  • The winners will receive prizes as described in the prizes page.

  • To be eligible for the schools prize, the entrant must be a student no older than 18 at the time of the close of submissions and in full-time education. Proof of student status will be required before a prize is awarded.

  • CQT reserves the right to change or withdraw the competition and/or prize at any time.

  • By entering the competition, entrants are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
